Our Commitment to Environmental Sustainability

At House of Aadhya, we are dedicated to reducing our environmental impact and making more sustainable choices in every aspect of our business. Here’s how we’re working towards a greener future:

We have completely phased out plastic carry bags in favour of high-quality paper bags, which we provide to customers free of charge. Our supplier, BioPak, is an industry leader in sustainable packaging, producing FSC™-certified kraft paper bags made from responsibly sourced or recycled materials. The Forest Stewardship Council™ (FSC™) ensures that wood-based products come from sustainably managed forests, and these bags are compostable, recyclable, and free of microplastics. (Source: BioPak)

We offer paperless receipts as our default option, cutting down on unnecessary paper consumption while making transactions more convenient for our customers.

We use paper tags for our products instead of plastic-based alternatives and are working towards switching to biodegradable tag strings in the near future. Additionally, we pack our sarees in high-quality, reusable zippered saree bags instead of cheap cellophane bags that tear easily and contribute to plastic waste. These durable storage bags are provided at no extra cost to customers, ensuring long-term usability while reducing landfill waste.

For us, sustainability isn’t just about packaging - it’s also about reducing waste at the source. We partner with manufacturers and artisans who focus on quality craftsmanship at every price point. Our products are designed to last, avoiding the cycle of disposable fashion that leads to excessive landfill waste. For us, value is linked to longevity and we look for that in all the items we source, including our budget ranges. 

To the best of our ability, we avoid selling cheaply printed or dyed fabrics that fade after a few washes, nor do we stock low-quality jewellery that tarnishes quickly. Instead, we curate timeless pieces that offer true value for money - choosing durability over disposability. This is sometimes difficult, as Indian manufacturing processes can lack transparency, and what is advertised to us is not always what we receive - but we do the very best we can. 

Wherever possible, we provide reusable and washable options to replace disposable products. Some examples include:
✅ Reusable strings, garlands and decorative umbrellas instead of single-use decorations
✅ Washable jasmine hair accessories instead of paper-based ones that damage easily
✅ Cloth backdrops for events, eliminating the need for single-use plastic decorations

✅ Waterproof and non tarnishing jewellery options

✅ Kid's accessories & toys like bags, keyrings, books, sunglasses and traditional toys that can be used again and again - rather than expensive one-use plastic LED toys. 

✅ Reusable festival decorations like tealight holders, and LED lights that have replaceable batteries.

Our loyalty club is now fully digital, eliminating the need for paper loyalty cards. This not only reduces unnecessary waste but also makes it easier for our customers to track and redeem rewards -no lost or damaged cards, just seamless savings at your fingertips!

To further enhance our sustainability efforts, we are considering:
♻️ A take-back or donation program for customers to recycle or upcycle gently used clothing and accessories
🛍 Encouraging reusable shopping bags by offering branded cloth totes as an alternative to paper bags

As part of our ongoing sustainability journey, we are exploring options to measure and offset our carbon footprint through a carbon emissions reduction or offset scheme. This could include:

🌿 Partnering with reforestation initiatives to offset the environmental impact of production and shipping
📦 Improving packaging efficiency to minimize waste and excess materials

We are currently researching credible carbon offset programs to ensure that any initiative we support makes a genuine impact.
